Analysing: Asking Alexandria Tour Poster <(^___^)>

Today in our Media lesson. We had to analyse a tour poster for a band/artist.
I'm a massive fan so I knew that Asking Alexandria had a tour poster as my dad offered to get me tickets (yaay)
The title of the band is Asking Alexandria. There isn't a tour name. (There is one, it's just not presented on the poster)
 The tour dates are:
 January 17th @ Glasgow Barrowlands
 January 19th @ London O2 Academy Brixton
 February 10th @ Birmingham O2 Academy
 February 11th @ Manchester Academy.
The supporting brand is: Monster (Energy Drink)
The central image is a side view of a skull with a black hood. The lighter coloured areas are coloured in purple.
The Bands record label is: Sumerian Records
From the poster, the target audience is probably Teens and Adults.
The other bands performing with them (so far) will be: Motionless in White and Betraying The Martyrs (There are now more that are not presented on this poster)

  1. WWW: Excellent choice of media text - there's plenty to analyse here...
EBI: ... You need to offer a lot more analysis! Explain WHY you think each aspect of the poster was designed in that particular way - colour, image, font etc. Also, refer to the four key concepts.
LR: Why purple? Why that font? Why that image?

I think they chose the colour purple as it is a unisex colour. It can attract both male and female audiences. Also, as the shade of purple is dark it looks quite creepy.
I think that they chose that font as it is easy to read (good for when writing dates as people can easily copy them down) and also looks good on the poster.
I think they chose that image as it represents the style of music being played on this tour. It is loud, heavy and many people may find it scary which is a good use of the skull in the hood (Grim Reaper) This may be useful for any people who have not heard the bands before but may be interested in hearing the type of music being portrayed by the poster.
